Charlie joined Gallagher from insurer RSA in 2014 and completed the full set of Finance Director roles across its Pen Underwriting, Specialty & Wholesale and UK Retail trading divisions before being appointed overall Chief Financial Officer of the UK Broking and Underwriting operations in June 2018, when he joined the UK Executive Committee team.
Leading a finance team of more than 200 covering all related functions including management accounts, statutory accounts, treasury, IBA, accounts payable, tax and internal audit, Charlie is also responsible for the sound running of Gallagher’s finance control framework, running annual and multi-year planning cycles, identifying and embedding operational efficiencies within the finance function and steering the business to achieve and exceed targets.
Charlie began his career in finance in the 1990s, as part of British Airways’ graduate programme, with experience gained in the media and support services industries before transitioning into the insurance industry in 2006, when he joined Aviva. A commercial CFO with more than 13 years’ experience within the insurance industry, Charlie continues to cover the full finance spectrum from core financial activities and commercial decision-making, to general management alongside UK board and regulatory responsibilities.
